WYMONDHAM COLLEGE

When I wrote to the incoming Year 7s in July I mentioned that I would be as nervous as them on their first day in September as it was also my first day running Peel. Although my nervousness has now dissipated, whenever I walk out of my flat into the boarding house I get a buzz of excitement about what the day will bring.

Together with my house parent Mr Brooks our aim is to make Peel as student centric as possible with decisions being shaped from ideas put forward by House council and student voice; this gives the house a fantastic family feel.

I am a local boy being born and growing up in Norwich to Scottish parents. I attended Norwich School and graduated from Dundee University before working for AstraZeneca as a clinical research scientist for almost 10 years before realising that teaching was the career for me. Having received my PGCE in Science from the UEA I worked at both Hellesdon and Thorpe St Andrew School before coming to Wymondham College in 2007.

I live at the College with my wife Colette and daughter Niamh with our elder son having recently flown the nest to University. Students in the house will know of my love for all things sport and during the winter I will be seen on an Astroturf pitch either playing or coaching hockey, similarly in the Summer I will be in white coaching or playing Cricket.
