Wymondham College Sixth Form offers you one of the finest Sixth Form experiences in the country. It is a place that values academic excellence tremendously highly and which invests enormous care and energy in making sure you leave your school life with outstanding opportunities ahead of you. Whatever your aspirations, fantastic teaching and supportive staff will help you to achieve them.
Transport Links
The College has its own transport, linking many villages across Norfolk and Suffolk to our College as well as a bus service into the city centre. In addition there are good road and rail links to Cambridge and London and a nearby International Airport.
Student Life
On the fringes of Norwich, the College spans over 83 acres of land and has a bespoke Sixth Form centre, Lincoln House, accommodating over 450 students, 240 of which board with us in accommodation that has both single, shared and en-suite facilities. As a member of our Sixth Form you will enjoy two large common rooms with surround sound, pool tables, table tennis, football and a juke box. Our students also have a café, computer suite, reading room and study space as well as their own dining area. In addition boarding students have multimedia common rooms and some with gym equipment and kitchen facilities on their landings. The fantastic facilities provide an excellent environment for you to form lasting friendships and memories whilst also enhancing your academic study.
Beyond the Classroom
Your education with us will go far beyond the classroom. We have a long standing Speakers Programme which has attracted many professionals from all industries including David Dein, former Vice-Chair of the Football Association and member of UEFA and FIFA committees. The programme has also attracted inspirational speakers including Andy Barratt, Chairman and Managing Director at Ford of Britain.
You will thoroughly enjoy our two annual lectures; the Peel Lecture has a commitment to the sciences and this year welcomes British Biologist Nessa Carey . The Lincoln Lecture has a different theme each year, 2017 guest was Film Director, David Kunac and the UK’s premier of his award winning documentary “Drawing Against Oblivion”.
Student leadership is paramount to our community and the vast numbers of societies are all student lead and span a variety of interests with many proving very successful in national competitions. Our award winning societies include the Debating Society, Young Enterprise, Maths Society and regional champion sport clubs. There are also societies that are not competitive but have an equal passion for their subject; Drama, Jazz Band, Law, Medicine, Choir, History, Amnesty International, Dance, Combined Cadet Force and Yoyo to name just a few!
In addition we have a Junior Common Room which is a team of students that drive the development of the Sixth Form and host social and charity events throughout the year, the highlight of which is the annual Christmas Prom. Our Principal’s Council is elected by the Sixth Form students and works alongside the Head of School and CEO of the Academy Trust. They are ambassadors for the College across a host of events and activities, including the March to Malawi involving the whole College walking nearly 8000 miles raising funds for the charity Sparkle.
If you enjoy travel you will love being part of our Sixth Form with over 7 international trips for you to get involved in from Argentinian exchanges to World Challenge Expeditions as well as the adventures that await you on the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Careers and your Future
Whilst you make the most of your time with us, there is a tailored Futures programme that prepares you for your career beyond the College. The Futures programme guides you through an exploration of universities, apprenticeships and gap year opportunities. There is a specific programme for students wishing to pursue Oxbridge, veterinary and medicine degrees, with an average of 10 students a year accepting these places.

A-LEVEL COURSE OPTIONS
An Introduction
We are extremely proud of the unique experience we offer here at Wymondham College Sixth Form. With record-breaking results and exceptional opportunities, we provide a thriving community.
To complement our broad curriculum we have an abundance of societies, clubs, events and international trips as well as work related experiences and bespoke university and career guidance, all on a site that stretches over 83 acres to make your time with us memorable and life enhancing.
The courses outline the wide range of A-Level courses we offer and is designed to support you in making informed choices. You will also have the opportunity to discuss the decisions you are making and ask any questions that you may have with members of staff and current Sixth Form students at our Open Events.
The Department for Education has introduced some changes to A-Level courses, including the move to stand alone AS Levels and two year A-Level qualifications. At Wymondham College you will study three A-Level qualifications with special consideration for Further Mathematics as a fourth option. You will also have the opportunity to study the Extended Project Qualification, which is an independent study of a topic of your choice and is highly regarded by many universities and employers.
We design our timetable to enable students to take courses that complement and offer future pathways, please check yhat your course combination fits the timetable clocks for the academic year 2018-2019. You can find the option blocks on the publications page under course booklet and it is page 28.
Our College entry requirements for the Sixth Form is an average GCSE score point of 5 points (Grade 5) across your best 8 grades including a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics. You must also meet the specific course requirements for the courses that you wish to study. In the summer term of Year 12, you will sit a formal exam in all of your subjects. We expect you to achieve at least an average point score of 20 points (average Grade D) or to have made expected progress to be able to continue into Year 13.
