MEP Copenhagen

The UK Delegation was represented by Reya Muller, William Wood and Laura Wright from Wymondham College, Lewis Bucke and Angus Pringle from Thetford Grammar School and Cara Nicholson (who acted as a Committee President) from Oundle School. The grand Opening Ceremony took place at the University of Copenhagen and included a truly inspired speech by Ms Margrethe Vestager, EU Commissioner. Ten Committees then set to work on drafting resolutions on a range of issues: countering terrorist groups, border control, education policies, effective use of antibiotics, climate change to name just some.

An outstanding eight out of the ten Resolutions were passed. These will now be forwarded to all Members of the European Parliament voicing the opinions of Europe’s future decision makers.

The MEP is really a very brave experiment, in that it brings together a group of people with entirely different origins and experiences who have minimal incentive to agree, and yet this experiment pays off due to our shared intention of improving society through constructive debate – Cara Nicholson.
